Day 1, Let the digging begin!

well as is often the case with these thing not everything went to plan.  It turns out that the previous tenant left halfway through the season and is adamant that he's coming back for his crops.  They haven't been watered in almost 2 months!  This fact aside we have been told to avoid the area's he's planted.  Not ideal but were just going to have to live with it.

on a positive note as well as inheriting two fantastic trees in the apple and plum we also have some prolific red current bushed, I'm thinking apple and redcurrant jam?  Day one of working the plot got under way at around 9am and lasted to about 1130 (we didn't want to completely ruin the kids).  everyone involved loved seeing the transformation of the first 10 or so feet of bed.  As you can see there were hardly any weeds on the plot as a result of the draught which only really left us with a handful of stubborn dandelions to dig out.

We also managed to fill a couple of water butts in preparation for our first crops going in tomorrow.
The kids loved every second of their new environment and got really stuck in.  All three cant wait to get back tomorrow and get stuck in again.

The plan for tomorrow is to get some late crops in, were thinking spinach, lettuce, radish and some rocket.  I'll keep you updated!
